AddThis Adds Google Analytics Integration and an Analytics API
October 20th, 2009 by Justin Thorp in UpdatesOnce you’ve started using AddThis, part of the fun is seeing what content gets shared and where it gets shared to. Traditionally, we’ve made this information available via AddThis.com. Well, after talking to many of you, we realize that you want more options for accessing your site’s sharing data.
Well, today we’re excited to announce integration with Google Analytics and an Analytics API that you can use to access your site’s sharing data.
Launched today, in public beta, Google Analytics integration will allow you to see all of your sharing stats right within your Google Analytics account. All you have to do is add a single line of JavaScript with your Google Analytics ID to your AddThis code on your site and you’re all set. Check out the documentation for more information on how to setup your site with Google Analytics.
Secondly, last week, we quietly launched the AddThis Analytics API. This allows you to programmatically access your site’s sharing data so that you can do whatever you want with it and put it into whatever analytics environment that suits your needs. We’ve already talked to a few customers who are going to use it to create a widget on their site which displays their most shared pages.Check out our Analytics API and let us know what kind of cool things you’re doing with it. We’d be excited to hear them.
Lastly, we’ve changed the promotion for browser add-ons and made them a little bit more prominent. All in all, our browser add-ons have been HUGE successes and have got people sharing more than ever before. This means it’ll be easier for your users to share your content more often.
We’re anxious to hear what you guys think about this release. Let us know. Drop a comment on this blog post, start a forum thread, or e-mail me personally at – justin@addthis.com
