Last night AddThis hosted the the March NoVA UX meetup here in our Vienna, VA headquarters. We had two speakers:
First up was Alex Kalinovsky, CEO of CreamTec LLC, who gave a talk about visual UI testing. Alex talked about the importance and challenges of visual interface testing, described current tools and methodologies, and then introduced his company’s solution called Screenster. You can check out his slides on SlideShare.
Steve Wendel, Principal Scientist at HelloWallet, spoke next. He described strategies for designing products and interfaces that promote behavioral change – Action Design. He describes Action Design as building good products that are effective at changing behavior, so people can do things that they want to do but haven’t been able to do before. You can check out his presentation on his company’s blog. Steve also organizes the Action Design DC meetup.
For next month’s meetup I’ll be moderating a panel discussion about e-commerce user experience design with design leaders from local retailers ThinkGeek and CustomInk. If you’re a UX professional in the Northern Virginia or DC Metro area, come join us on April 10th at 7pm here at AddThis HQ.
