I’m Matt, Your New Support Engineer!

Hi, I’m Matt Hinegardner, and I just joined the Publisher Support team. I’ll be assisting Paul and Ifdy to help you to implement all the great social plugins and analytic tools that AddThis has to offer!

Prior to joining the team at AddThis, I worked mostly in the EdTech industry for a number of years, providing support to both consumer and institutional customers, as well as chasing software pirates. I have also worked on many small business web development projects, mostly using Content Management Systems, especially WordPress.

At AddThis, I’ll be assisting our publishers with implementing and getting the most out of our social plugins and analytics. This includes troubleshooting various HTML, CSS, and JavaScript issues on publisher websites and assisting developers with our APIs.

I thoroughly enjoy the mixture between being on the front lines of customer interaction and utilizing my web development knowledge to ensure our publishers are able to use our tools effectively.

I’m really looking forward to getting to know our community (i.e. you)! If there are any other changes you’d like to see made to our support center, drop me a line in the comments below!

    Hello, Matt! Welcome! I have no issues with AddThis. Overall I consider it the best existing sharing tool for me.
    A little bother for me is that dropdown menu (right click) in Chrome works not so pefect in Chrome as it works (fine ) in Mozilla. In Chrome I cannot delete unneeded networks/SNS there, no matter how I try. In Firefox = perfect.
    Good luck to you in your work!

    Thanks Alex! For our Chrome extension, we always show 12 services in the drop down menu. If you want to change those services, just click on Options in the drop down menu, then remove them from My Customized Services. If you have fewer than 12 customized services, the extension will fill the rest of the list with our most popular services.

  • Hi Matt – Sounds like an awesome new job. I hope it is a fun as I imagine it could be. AddThis has been a great part of several sites I publish, and I can’t say I have any complaints with it. Good luck!

    Hi Matt,

    A big congrats.

    I just installed addthis on my wordpress, it shows only four share icons, I need it to show up to eight. and also I can’t find the new Instagram share button.

    Please help

  • Matt

    To implement more sharing buttons in WordPress, go into Settings > AddThis Share, then click the “custom button”. Paste in the following code, which increases the buttons from 4 to 8 buttons:

    <div class="addthis_toolbox addthis_default_style addthis_32x32_style">
    <a class="addthis_button_preferred_1"></a>
    <a class="addthis_button_preferred_2"></a>
    <a class="addthis_button_preferred_3"></a>
    <a class="addthis_button_preferred_4"></a>
    <a class="addthis_button_preferred_5"></a>
    <a class="addthis_button_preferred_6"></a>
    <a class="addthis_button_preferred_7"></a>
    <a class="addthis_button_preferred_8"></a>
    <a class="addthis_button_compact"></a>
    <a class="addthis_counter addthis_bubble_style"></a>
    </div>

    We currently have an Instagram follow button, but not a share button. The follow button can be found here:

    Hi Matt,

    We are having continous no-support problem. Questions asked either leave in silence or not approved in Support forums. Such as:

    Our site loads most of social media site SDK’s by default. Addthis code also call same SDK’s AGAIN, drops loading performance and re-initliaze all previously iniltialised Social media plugins.

    What we need about Addthis to check if SDK’s already loaded before loading them or at least load them asynchroniously or at least give us opt-in option.

  • Hi Selcuk, we’re having trouble looking up your support request with your username or email. These two articles may have the info you’re looking for: http://support.addthis.com/customer/portal/articles/381221-optimizing-addthis-performance and http://www.addthis.com/blog/2013/05/07/a-brief-history-of-using-addthis-dynamically

    If these don’t help, please resend your message to help@addthis.com and let us know when you do, so we can look for it. Sorry for the inconvenience.
