Clearspring Raises $20MM from IVP

(Originally posted on the Clearspring blog.)

We’re excited to announce that we’ve just closed an investment round led by Institutional Venture Partners (IVP). IVP has backed some of the best data-driven companies on the web, including Twitter and Zynga. 86 out of the 300 companies they last invested in have gone public.

In the last couple of years, we’ve grown tremendously across the board. AddThis is now used by over 9MM domains, reaching over 1B unique users monthly. It’s so popular that we’re now one of a handful of sites to have a Google PageRank of 10. We’re processing 10TB of data/day – every week, we process as much data as the entire digital Library of Congress.

AddThis has in turn fueled the growth of our Audience Platform, enabling hundreds of advertisers to deliver more relevant advertising. All the while we’ve been hiring as fast as we can to continue to support the needs of all the great companies that use our products.

We want to thank all of you for working with us over the years. We hope to show you just how thankful we are by putting this money to work on great new products. As always, if you have any ideas about how we can better serve publishers and advertisers, hit us up.

Look forward to continuing to rock (and roll) with all of you!

Cheers,

Hooman

Finally thanks to the AlwaysOn team for recognizing our hard work over all these years. We have consistently been recognized as a leader in social media:

Come visit us at OnMedia NYC on Feb 1st where we will be speaking alongside advertising pioneers Joe Zawadski (CEO MediaMath) and Brian O’Kelley (CEO AppNexus) discussing “How the Mathematicians and Rocket Scientists took over the Advertising Industry”.

Stay tuned for more announcements – 2011 is going to be an exciting year!

AddThis is Now as Big as Mario Lopez, On Twitter

With AddThis, we recently passed a fun milestone. We now have over 110,000 followers for our AddThis Twitter account (@AddThis). We’re about as big on Twitter as Mario Lopez (@mariolopezextra), of Dancing with the Stars and Saved by the Bell fame. *smiles*

When we’re not heads down on new features for AddThis, we love geeking out about social media. Twitter has been a fantastic mechanism for getting the word out to our user base about what’s going on. We also depend on Twitter for helping to identify customer issues and making sure that they are quickly resolved.

Thanks to all of you who are following us.  If you’re not following us, I hope that you will. We’re working on some extra special updates for the feed. Stay tuned…

People Love Sharing With the New AddThis Toolbar

toolbar-politico

A couple of weeks ago we launched an update to our AddThis browser extensions for Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. For Firefox users, this update introduced the option of sharing with AddThis using a browser toolbar.

Like most of us in the office, I love sharing links with friends and posting them to my favorite online services. With the new AddThis Toolbar, I can do it all with just one click. It’s pretty awesome.

Well, after a few weeks of these new browser extensions being out in the world, we’re excited to report that they have been a big success. For Firefox users specifically, we’ve seen a 3x increase in sharing from the previous version of the add-on. Plus, someone with the new AddThis toolbar shares 39x more often than the average AddThis user.

Website publishers, this is great for you. When people share more often, that means they’re sharing your content more often and your content is getting exposed to even more new users.

As we’ve said before, our goal is to make it easy for anyone to share anything, anywhere. We’re excited to evolve these sharing tools and make them even better. Stay tuned!

Have questions about the AddThis Toolbar? Check out our FAQ, drop a comment on this post, or e-mail me at justin@addthis.com.

Do you use one of the many other browsers? Well, we love you, too. Have you seen AddThis for Chrome or the AddThis Bookmarklets?
