Introducing CSV Export for Targeting Rules

Today, we’re excited to introduce the ability to export any emails captured through AddThis Audience Targeting tools as a .CSV. Since we launched Audience Targeting in December of last year, we’ve repeatedly been asked to add specific email platform integrations. So in an effort to make our Audience Targeting tools as effective as possible for all users, you can now create email lists through the Audience Targeting rule creator, house your collected email addresses in this list, and then export it as a CSV and import it into any email service you currently use.

Below is an overview of the new functionality and how you can start using it immediately.

Creating your Audience Targeting rules hasn’t changed, but the option to “collect email” now has a small AddThis logo that you can choose to manage your lists.

When you click on the plus sign, you will see the following options:

  • Select a list
  • My Contacts – the default email list you can use across multiple Audience Targeting rules to collect email subscriptions
  • Create a new list – a new list you can create for each specific campaign and re-use across Audience Targeting rule

When you have created a new list, this will also be among the options in the drop down and you can choose that list if you want to add more emails to that specific campaign.

Once you’ve saved your new Audience Targeting rule, you’ll see the third option on your tabs called “Manage Emails”. When you click on this tab, you will see all your lists, the number of emails you have collected, the option to download the .CSV file and the ability to create new lists here. Once you have exported your .CSV file you can import it into any email platform you use!

We’re excited to continue enhancing our tools to make them easier to use and more impactful for your business. Let us know how you’re using our Audience Targeting tools and what else you’d love to see!

  • Thrilled to see this addition! Great work!

Cool. An email subscribe button would be a nice addition to the follow tools, too.

Muy útil para realizar una campaña específica. Gracias

  • Hi, thanks for the great feature!
    I have a question:
how is it possible to have 10 subscribers but only 4 emails in the email list?

  • Hi Max, glad you like the new feature! In response to your question, which email marketing platform are you using where this issue is happening?

  • Hi Richard, thanks for your feedback. I’ll pass this along to others on the team! While not specifically what you referenced in terms of Follow Tools, Custom Messages are one way we allow our users to collect email addresses from their website visitors. It’s been proving really effective for some: Hopefully this helps! Certainly let me know if you have any questions :)

  • This is a tool I use all the time. Such an important feature.

  • Hi Max, there are a couple of reasons why you might be seeing a difference between those two numbers. 1) You previously had a different email service tied to that Custom Message before changing to the CSV export option, which means that the list in the CSV file wouldn’t reflect the total subscribers for that Custom Message. 2) There were some duplicates removed where the same person submitted their email address multiple times. Hopefully this helps! If you have any more questions, please feel free to email and we can take a closer look for you :)

  • Ok, thanks again for your response.
    I appreciate it!

  • Sure thing, Max!

  • Glad to hear you’re finding it useful!
