At this week’s NoVA UX meetup we celebrated the group’s birthday and three years of user experience events. NoVA UX was founded back in June 2012 to provide opportunities for user experience professionals in the Northern Virginia and DC metro area to connect, share ideas and learn from each other. Since then we’ve grown to nearly 1,700 members.
I thought it would be fun to take a look back and break down three years and 38 events by the numbers. Check out the infographic below – here are some highlights:
- Four panel discussions contributed to a final count of 56 speakers; panels were also some of our most popular events
- While a third of our events were UX design related, we’ve also dug into user research and testing, career building, development topics including mobile and wearables, and many more
- We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have over 30 sponsors provide almost 600 pizzas over the years
On the topic of speakers and sponsors, this week’s event also featured a talk by Brant Nesbitt from Sizmek about Mobile UX best practices for advertising. He shared tips about mobile advertising, as well as insights such as videos that are 15 seconds or less in length have the highest completion rate. You can check out Brant’s presentation over on SlideShare. Sizmek also sponsored pizza for the event – thanks!
With three years behind us, I’d like to thank AddThis for providing not only the space for most of our events, but also beer, soda and snacks. Also, a special shout out to my former co-organizer Kit Unger, my current co-organizer Will King, and our talent lead Jake Thomas all of whom have been a huge help with a rapidly growing group.
