Announcing: No More Lost Share Counts After Switching to HTTPS

AddThis Share Counts Now Aggregated

You asked, we listened!

We understand how important share counts are to you, which is why AddThis is introducing a new feature that prevents the loss of share counts after switching your site from HTTP to HTTPS!

Social services like Facebook, Pinterest, etc., treat HTTP and HTTPS protocols as separate URLs, meaning these social services will only display share counts for one version of a URL or the other. Because of this, online publishers and website owners that switched from HTTP to HTTPS would lose the share counts for the former.

We have listened to your concerns and worked hard to find a solution. Moving forward, AddThis buttons will display the share counts for the HTTP + HTTPS versions for a URL.

How does it work?

AddThis sharing buttons will automatically request the share count numbers for the HTTP and HTTPS version of a URL from social networks that support share counts. The share count displayed with your buttons will be the sum of all share counts for a page, before and after the HTTPS switch.

The best part? This feature is entirely FREE!

What do you need to do?

This is an active process that is done automatically on our end. Meaning there is nothing that you need to do to enable this feature! Just sit back and enjoy the glorious share count boost.
