User interface designers work with text, form fields and other visual elements to build engaging product experiences. Technical considerations such as performance, however, also play a large role in how a visitor perceives a website and, by extension, a brand.

Last Thursday, we held our second hackathon of the year. Employees gathered at the AddThis HQ in Virginia for 24-hours of hacking fun. From conference room construction to manipulating web browsers with music, there were tons of impressive projects, many of which were completed by Friday morning. Here’s a look at some of the action!
Part of what makes AddThis an exciting place to work is the fun and distinct approach we take to our daily routine. Our employees are extremely talented and hardworking, which is why it’s important to balance the scale by incorporating some stress-relieving activities that also improve personal health. One way we approach this balance is through good old-fashioned exercise!
At this week’s NoVA UX meetup we celebrated the group’s birthday and three years of user experience events. NoVA UX was founded back in June 2012 to provide opportunities for user experience professionals in the Northern Virginia and DC metro area to connect, share ideas and learn from each other. Since then we’ve grown to nearly 1,700 members.
At AddThis, we believe our team is our most valuable resource. Building the best team we can is something we care a lot about. Traditionally, years of experience has been the go-to metric for hiring managers and recruiters to filter potential candidates. At AddThis, we take a different route.
